Robert Bosch Tool Corporation Bosch Power Tools introduced hand tools and specialized press tools for plumbers for the first time and also introduced new specialty products for Pros in carpentry and electrical. The portfolio of 30 new tools was based on insights from end users. Bosch says they are dedicated to innovation. At 136 locations across the globe, Bosch employs some 90,000 associates in research and development, of which nearly 48,000 are software engineers. Stanley Black & Decker SB&D reported a rare quarterly miss at the end of October, with overall revenue falling 5% to $3.75 billion, due to tepid demand and challenges in the automotive industry, according to SB&D. Third-quarter revenue for their industrial unit, which serves customers in the automotive and aerospace industries, fell about 18% to $488 million from a year ago, hurt by a divestiture from its infrastructure business and weaker demand. Tools & Outdoor Q3 revenue fell 2% organically to $3.3 billion. DeWalt delivered their sixth consecutive quarter of organic growth. Price contributed 1% in the quarter and weakening DIY demand contributed to volume dropping 3%. Currency impacted revenue by another 1%. Power Tools declined 1% organically due to softness in consumer and DIY brands. DeWalt cordless products grew in the quarter. Volume was also supported by the initial holiday season sell-in across their priority brands. They have a lot of offerings slated for the fourth quarter. SB&D will hold a Capital Markets Day November 20 during which they intend to share more about future plans and introduce key leaders, including many new to the company, who will share their perspectives and plans. TTI/Techtronic Industries Milwaukee Tool opened their largest factory in the US. The new plant in Mississippi will employ more than 800 people and will initially produce Sawzall cutting blades and eventually expand into other products. Milwaukee Tool has invested more than $250 million in Mississippi over the last five years and now employs more than 4,000 people in the state.
